Rumpa’s death Evidence of rape not found

Forensic Department of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) did not find any evidence of rape in the autopsy of Stamford University student Rubaiyat Sharmin Rumpa.
After receiving the postmortem report on Saturday, Dr Sohel Mahmud, Head of the DMCH Forensic Medicine Department confirmed the matter to the media.
Rumpa, 22, a second year student of English Department in Siddheswari branch of Stamford University, was found dead in an alley behind Ayesha Shopping Complex on December 4. Victim Rumpa was daughter of one police inspector Mohammad Rokonuddin lived in a flat with her mother at city’s Shantibagh area.
Meanwhile, Abdur Rahman Saikat, boyfriend of the victim Rubaiyat Sharmin Rumpa, was sent to jail after 4-day remand.
