Discussion by Independent Newspapers Readers Assoc: Role of legendary journo Manik Mia for emergence of Bangladesh lauded

Under the auspices of Independent Newspapers Readers Association, a discussion meeting on legendary journalist of Bangladesh , dreamer of Independence and founder Editor of the Dainik Ittefaq late Tofazzal Hossain Manik Mia was held at Circuit House auditorium on Monday evening in the port city with President of the Association and noted journalist SM Jamaluddin in the chair. The theme of the discussion meet was ” Tofazzal Hossain Manik Mia and Today’s Newspapers” Journalist Nazimuddin was the moderator of the meeting. Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Mesbahuddin was present as Chief Guest. Former member of Bangaldesh Press Council , General Secretary of Chittagong Newspapers Editors Council and Chairman of Chittagong Journalist Union Cooperative Society Alhaj Moinuddin Quaderi Showkat was the keynote speaker. One of the organizer of liberation war and researcher Md. Ashraf Khan delivered welcome address in it. Editor of the Dainik Bir Mancha Omar Faruk, Chairman of Chittagong Education Welfare Foundation Principal Abdul Karim, Bureau Chief of Dainik Ittefaq and Vice President of Chittagong Press Club Salahuddin Reza, Editor of Naya Bangla ZM Enayetullah, central adviser of the Readers Association MA Samad Khan attended the discussion meeting as special guests. Among others, senior staff reporter of Ittefaq Abdul Wazed, senior photo journalist Mostafiz, journalist Nazimuddin, JP leader Belal, political personality Swapan Sen , social personality Sohel Mahmud, Poet Abdus Salam, writer Nazimuddin Chowdhury Enel, Kabi Sajal Das and a number social elite were present on the occasion. The chief guest in his brief deliverations said father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was imbued with the spirit of liberation following the writings of Manik Mia in the Ittefaq before the liberation. Manik Mia also inspired the freedom fighters during the was of liberation through publishing different articles, features regarding Independent Bangladesh. He further said the role of Ittefaq during Liberation War was praiseworthy. The principal speaker on the occasion highlighted the role of Manik Mia for emergence of Bangladesh and said Manik was never surrendered to ill forces in that time . Chair of the meeting SM Jamaluddin thanked all participants of the discussion of Manik Mia’s 46th death anniversary arranged by the Independent Newspaper Readers Association , Chittagong . SM Jamaluddin prayed for salvation of the departed soul of Manik Mia and prayed for the progress of the country and nation.
