Rizvi likely to surrender today

BNP Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi may surrender to CMM court today in an arson case filed against him with Pallabi Police Station.
The BNP leader took shelter in the party Chairperson’s Gulshan office on Friday to avoid arrest, as an warrant had been issued against him.
“Rizvi Ahmed will surrender to the CMM court with a bail prayer,” said his lawyer Advocate Sanaullah Mian to The New Nation.
He also said, they submitted a petition to the court for protection agains
police harassment when Rizvi would start for court. The court then asked him to surrender.
Earlier on July 25, the court issued warrant for the arrest of Rizvi and seven others in a case filed for allegedly exploding bombs in the capital’s Pallabi area last year.
BNP assistant organising secretary Advocate Abdus Salam Azad, who also stays with Rizvi told The New Nation, “We are staying here because law enforcers have taken position surrounding the office to arrest Rizvi Ahmed.”
