Miscreants went on rampage at Retina and Focus coaching centres in the district town on Tuesday, alleging that Rakibul Hasan alias Regan, arrested by police during the Kalyanpur raid in the capital as a suspected militant, was a student of Retina coaching centre.
Witnesses said being outraged by the information that arrested Rakibul Hasan was a student of Retina coaching centre, a group of young men,
equipped with firearms and sticks, stormed into the office of Retina and Focus coaching centres at Riaz Kazi lane in the town around 9pm and vandalised both.
They also torched the collapsible gate of the building. Later, they also attacked another branch of the two centres adjacent to Althafunnisa ground and set furniture ablaze. They also looted some valuables, including computers, from the two offices, said Bogra branch director of Retina Coaching centre Rashedul Islam.
In-charge of Sadar Police Station Fazle Elahi said the attackers managed to flee the scene when police reached the spot. On information, a fire-fighting unit rushed in and put out the fire.
