A Jhalakathi court has ordered the authorities to reopen the case again six Rapid Action Battalion or RAB personnel over the alleged murder attempt on student Limon Hossain seven years ago.
Limon’s mother Henoara Begum started the case at Jhalakati Senior Judicial Magistrate’s Court on Apr 10, 2011.

She accused the six members of RAB-8 of Barisal of trying to murder and maiming her son.
The court dismissed the case after police said in its investigation report that the accused were ‘innocent’ on Aug 15, 2012.
The plaintiff on Feb 13, 2013, petitioned that the case be reopened at Jhalakati District and Sessions Judge’s Court.
Akkas Shikder, the lawyer for Henoara, told bdnews24.com Additional District and Sessions Judge SKM Tofail Hasan ordered that the case be reopened after the end of the 42nd day of hearing on the petition on Sunday.
Akkas said he believes the charges against the accused RAB men will be proved if police investigate the case ‘fairly’.
The accused are the then RAB-8 deputy assistant director Lutfor Rahman, corporal Md Mazharul Islam, constable Abdul Aziz, nayek Muktadir Hossain, and soldiers Sri Prahlad Chandra and Karetik Kumar Biswas.
Limon is a postgraduate law student of Kushtia Islamic University now.
He had faced two cases started by the RAB on charges of keeping illegal arms and explosives.
The court acquitted him of the charges on July 29, 2013 and Oct 16, 2014 following the home ministry’s recommendation.
