Social Service Department, Social Organizations and Kishoreganj District Administration jointly arranged a colourfull rally, discussion, postaring, cultural function and distributing wheel chairs marking the International Disabled and National Disabled Day- 2019 on Thursday.
A discussion meeting on The Feature is Accesible held at Child Families Complex (Girls) in the town on Thursday morning.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarowar Moshed Chowdhury and Acting Police Super Nazmul Islam Sopan and Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Mustafizur Rahman were attended as chief and special guest while Deputy Director of Social Welfare Md. Kamruzzaman Khan presided over.
Social Welfare Assistant Director Shahidullah, Advocate Bhupendra Bhowmik Dolon, Advocate Maya Bhowmik, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, Social Welfare Officer Salma Khanm were also present.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarowar Morshed Chowhdury said that, present government working relentlessly to turn them as human resources through providing all necessary facilities, including education, healthcare and employment opportunities.
Deputy Director Kamruzzaman Khan said that, we have already persons with Disabilities Rights and Protection Act- 2013, Neuro Developmental Disability Protection Council Act- 2018, special education policy 2019 for disabled people and established service centres to support the disabled reasons in our country.

BSS from Rajshahi adds: Speakers at a post-rally discussion here on Thursday said the people with special needs should be given some additional privileges for their proper rehabilitation and family integration.
They viewed holistic and collective efforts of both the public and private organisations have become an urgent need for ensuring their fundamental rights which are keys to their social dignity.Terming the challenged people as an integral part of the society, the speakers put emphasis on mainstreaming them through creating a friendly atmosphere for people with disabilities. The physically challenged people should never be adjudged as burden of the society.
District Social Service office and District Administration jointly organised the discussion at Shishu Academy auditorium in observance of the 28th International and the 21st National Day of Persons with Disabilities today.
‘The Future is Accessible’ was the main theme of the day.
Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque and Divisional Director of Department of Social Services (DSS) AKM Sarwar Jahan addressed the meeting as chief and special guests respectively while DSS Deputy Director Hasina Momtaj was in the chair.
District Children Affairs Officer Monjur Kader, Member of National Social Welfare Council Mozammel Haque and DSS Assistant Director Dr Abdullah Al Firoj also spoke on the occasion.
Hamidul Haque said that the physically and mentally challenged people can be mainstreamed and empowered using the Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
He urged wealthy people and other philanthropists to stand beside the people with special abilities and also urged the challenged people to make them fit for the jobs for providing minimum services to the service- providers.
Other speakers said the people with special needs aren’t the burden of the society but wealth. They have to be built as worthy citizens. All quarters should come forward towards forging a social movement for welfare of those thereby overall developments of the society will be achieved.
