World Wetlands Day was observed on Dhaka University (DU) campus on Sunday amid different programmes. Marking the day, a research book tilted “Water Cooperation: Proceedings of the National Seminar on Strengthen the Civil Capacity and Voice on Water Cooperation” unveiling ceremony jointly organized by Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies Institute and Oxfam was held at DU Senate Bhaban. DU Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique unveiled the research book and distributed certificates among fourth and fifth batch students of masters’ diploma courses under Disaster Management Department. Chaired by Director of the institute Prof Mahbuba Nasreen, the function was addressed by Pro-Vice-Chancellor (academic) Professor Nasreen Ahmad, Pro-Vice Chancellor (administration) Prof Shahid Akhtar Hossain and Bangladesh Open University Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Khandakar Mokaddem Hossain as the special guests. The vice-chancellor urged all to work from their respective positions to face the natural and human-created disasters. He said everyone should be conscious to prevent the misuse of water.
