UNB, Dhaka :
Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Monday said the import of reconditioned hybrid cars is set to get the green signal in the budget for fiscal 2015-’16.
He said this when a delegation of Bangladesh Reconditioned Vehicles Importers and Dealers Association (VARVIDA), led by its president Md Abdul Hamid Sharif, met him at the Secretariat at noon.
“You’ll be allowed to import reconditioned hybrid cars in the upcoming fiscal year,” Muhith said following a demand from VARVIDA leaders.
Now the import of new hybrid cars is allowed, not
the reconditioned hybrid ones. Later, a delegation of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), led by its President Hossain Khaled, met the Finance Minister at the Secretariat and placed a number of demands ahead of the upcoming national budget.
In response to the demands placed by the DCCI leaders, Muhith said fuel prices will not be lowered anytime soon despite its fall in the international market.
“Though fuel prices have declined in the international market, we didn’t lower that as we provided subsidy to the Bangladesh Petroliam Corporation (BPC),” he said.
