Supporting the poor students

The government budget for the primary education sector needs a balanced approach.
The Education Department provides free books to the students from Primary to SSC level. But it needs reconsideration. Distribution of books should be according to the socio-economic status of the students’ families. But all the students — be that poor or rich — get the books. Giving books to the students of rich families is an unnecessary expenditure, while there are poor students, who should be given more monetary support to ensure continuity of their study and thus to help them to build career. On the other side, the wealthy section of the guardians are capable of bearing all education related expenses.
Only because of poverty, many of the poor students have to give up study. So, they should be given more and more financial supports.
The Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) help the A + or Golden A+ result holder students. The poor and meritorious students should be given special attention by the Education Department. Curtailing the unnecessary expenditure for the wealthy students, the poor and meritorious students should be given needed monetary supports. Giving free books to the wealthy students is nothing but a formality – which, by all practical counts, is unbalanced and mere wastage of public money. We hope, the authority will consider this and help the poor section of students with all facilities that they need most.
