Sorry state of Kamalapur Rly Station

I went to the Kamalapur Railway Station on Monday to see off my daughter and her family and experienced, rather, a sorry state of the country’s biggest railway station. The words are unable to explain how much is the apologetic state of the platform and the train compartments. Bangladesh Railway (BR) has not been printing railway timetable since mid-eighties, but a railway official knows not it.
On the other hand, I saw the officials in the Reception and Inquiry Room more busy with phone talks. They had no time to answer my queries.
Foreigners visiting the station will return their homes with a very pitiful idea about the railway management. Everybody knows that BR is a losing concern and going worse day by day. Train accidents have become regular phenomenon and stations are being shut one by one for want of trained hands. The bad condition can be checked and improvement may be visible if the BR is relived of the black-cats’ inside it.
