Demand for Sports TV channel
There is no sports channel in the country though it can be a profitable business organ. We once heard that the ATN Bangla would have a sports channel but our expectation gradually faded away. However, the task is easy for the government since the Bangladesh Television itself has three separate transmissions. And we are sure that the business houses will patronize such channel because people in general are fond of sports.
There will be no dearth of sports news and live programme. Every day and every moment, there are tournaments through out the world. Out of about 42 disciplines, there is passion for football, hockey, cricket, basketball, badminton, volleyball, table tennis, swimming, athletics, diving and tennis including formula races.
There are three sports channels in Pakistan and more than 10 in India. Most of the countries of the world have sports channels because the entrepreneurs there respect public opinion. We are sorry to say that we could not enjoy the Asian Games live. Even none of the television channel telecast highlights for the reason best known to them. And we fear repetition in case of all other games also if there is no sports channel.
Finally, may we request the government to take the initiative?
