Signing Teesta Water Sharing Treaty and Commitment of India
If I want to say sincerely, the people of Bangladesh have been waiting for years to see the Teesta River Water Sharing deal finalised. The Teesta deal has remained pending since 2011 and it could not proceed due to apparent extreme opposition from West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
However, it may be Indian inner politics. We don’t want to pay attention to it. But Bangladesh must remind Indian government that it was their commitment to give equal share of Teesta waters. Former Indian Premier Dr Manmohan Singh had promised us to give Teesta water. Now, it’s time for the new Modi government to fulfil the commitment.

In a changing political scenario in the West Bengal, I do believe there will be no extra pressure on Indian central government on this issue. So, why not I hope there may be an agreement soon in this regard?
