Tk 31.19 cr smuggled goods seized by BGB

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized smuggled goods and contraband narcotic items worth around Tk 31.19 core conducting anti-smuggling drives across the country in June this year.
According to a BGB press release, the seized contraband narcotic items included 179,095 pieces Yaba pills, 4,817 bottles of foreign wines, 147 local wines, 2,848 canes of bear, 19,674 bottles of phensidyl, 1,565 kg hemp, 400 gm heroin (brown sugar), 1718 pieces of senegra tablets, 11,835 pieces of injections and 10,13,020 other tablets.

On the other hand, the seized smuggled goods included 10 pieces of gold bar, 5,988 pieces of Sharees, 2,026 pieces of three pieces/shirt pieces, 34,133 meters fabrics, 18,419 pieces readymade garments, 1,081 spare parts of vehicles, three pick-ups, and 12 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, 3 trucks, 50 motorcycles, 4,860 cubic feet wood and also 6,107 kg tea, it added.
Besides, the paramilitary force also seized 4 pistols, 1 one-shooter gun, 20 round bullets and 9 magazines.
The BGB arrested 161 people over their alleged involvement in smuggling contraband items during the month. It also arrested 146 Bangladeshis for illegally crossing borders and then handed them over to local police stations.
Besides, four Indians were arrested for illegally trespassing into Bangladesh territory from India. Of them, three were handed over to Indian BSF and another sent to police custardy, said BGB Headquarters Public Relations Officer Mohammad Mohsin Reza.
It is to be noted that the BGB has seized smuggled goods and illegal drugs worth around Tk 499.32 crore in the first six months of the current year.
