Rangpur records 2.13pc Covid-19 positivity rate on Friday

Rangpur division recorded 2.13 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as four fresh cases were reported after testing 188new samples in the division on Friday. Health officials said the coronavirus situation continues improving amid declining positivity rate during the last more two months in the division.
Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 3.69 percent on Thursday. 2.61 percent on Wednesday, 2.87 percent on Tuesday, 4.14 percent on Monday, 4.13 percent on Sunday and 2.38 percent on Saturday last in the division.
Among the four new patients, one was reported positive after testing 94 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) at the positivity rate of 1.06 percent today.
“The only new Covid-19 infected patient is hailing from Kurigram district,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain said. Principal bof RpMC Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 6:45 pm.
On the other hand, three new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 3.19 percent today.
“All of the three new Covid-19 infected patients are hailing from different areas of Dinajpur district alone,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain said. Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said the number of Covid-19 patients rose to 55,327 as seven new positive cases were reported today from across the division.
“The district-wise break up of total 55,327 patients include 12,466 of Rangpur, 3,806 Panchagarh, 4,443 of Nilphamari, 2,739 of Lalmonirhat, 4,639 of Kurigram, 7,622 of Thakurgaon, 14,753 of Dinajpur and 4,859of Gaibandha in the division,” he added.
