The holy month of Ramzan begins today (Monday) in the country. On the occasion, schools, madrasahs and equivalent educational institutions have been declared closed from Sunday till August 6.Meanwhile, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken initiatives to ensure proper security in the city during Ramzan, said DMP Commissioner Benazir Ahmed. Special force would be deployed to sensitive points, including shopping malls, during Tarabi and Sehri time from today, he said, adding that no Iftar and fruit shops would be allowed on footpaths in the city aiming to avert traffic jam.Muslims in Saudi Arabia, most Middle East countries, the USA, Russia, Italy and Turkey started the fasting month of Ramzan on Sunday.
