BNP candidates of Union parishad in 30 UPs under three upazilas of Chittagong boycott election for alleged ballot hijacking and capture of polling centre by the ruling party cadres . These upazilas are Mirsarai, Sitakuknda and Sandwip .
The candidates in these Ups demanded fresh election declaring void of the present polls. Election Monitoring cell chief Md. Jasimuddin told the media that in some polling centre, ballot papers were sealed on Wednesday night and soon after beginning of casting yesterday, centre were seiged by the rival candidates
. He said after apprising the situation to law enforcing agencies, they did not r espond.
Later, BNP candidates left the polling centres boycotting election with demand of fresh schedule of election in these union parishads, sources said.
