Rally held demanding pure food

Teachers and students of the Gono Bishwabidyalay of Savar on Thursday organised a rally demanding pure food.
The rally started from the main gate of the Saver National Memorial and paraded a small part of the Dhaka-Aricha Highway. The participants of the rally distributed some leaflets describing pure food. Professor Dr Md Sayedur Rahman of Pharmacology Department of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) attended the rally as the chief guest.
At least two hundred participants attended the rally including Dr Shakil Mahmud, Convener of ‘demand for pure food’ and also Chairman of Bio-Chemistry Department of Gono Bishwabidyalay, Dr Fuad Hossain, Member-Secretary of ‘demand for pure food’ and also a teacher of the Bio-Chemistry Department of the university and Gono Bishwabidyalay’s Registrar Md Delwar Hossain, Controller of Examination Mortuza Ali, Vice-President of Central Students’ Council Jewel Rana, General Secretary of Central Students’ Council Nazrul Islam.
Chief guest Professor Dr Sayedur Rahman said, “Food is one of the basic rights of the people. But toxic food is a silent killer. So, now we need public awareness.”
