Rabindra Sangeet Utsab begins December 20

A four-day national Tagore songs festival titled ‘Jatiyo Rabindra Sangeet Utsab’ will be held at Shawkat Osman Memorial Auditorium of Central Public Library in the city’s Shahbag area from December 20 to 23. It will be 29th arrangement of this festival to be organised by Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Sangstha. Besides performing 110 Tagore artistes individually, two dance dramas will also take place during the festival.
Noted artist and puppeteer Mustafa Monwar will inaugurate the festival at 5:45pm on December 20.
This year noted artist Hashem Khan, noted flute player Gazi Abdul Hakim and music director Doulatur Rahman will be given honour.
Therefore, Tagore artistes from Kolkata Sraboni Sen, Sudeshna Sanyal Rudro and Bishwarup Rudro will also perform as invited singers in the festival. This was announced by President of Shilpi Sangstha Tapan Mahmud at a press conference held at a city restaurant in Segunbagicha area on Sunday. Vice president Bula Mahmud, general secretary Sajed Akbar, Sr Joint Secretary Salma Akbar, Pijush Barua, Dolly Kona Chowdhury, Golam Haider, Shahnaz Rumana, among others, were present at the conference.
