RAB detains MP Nizam Hazari’s supporters with huge arms in Feni

The Feni-2 lawmaker’s followers put up barricades for two hours on Dhaka-Chittagong and Feni-Noakhali highways and Feni-Sonagazi road protesting against the arrest on Saturday night.
RAB-7 Feni Camp Director Major Mohammad Mozammel Hossain said the recovered weapons included 16 firearms and 18 sharp weapons.
RAB and witnesses said, Hazari’s supporters were returning to Feni by five microbuses after joining a protest rally at Sonagazi Bazar over Upazila Juba League leader Azizul Haque’s murder.
RAB stopped them at Lalpur around 8pm and nabbed 26 activists with the weapons. The law enforcers did not name those arrested.
Witnesses said, Hazari’s followers put up barricades in different areas after the arrests, which were removed after two hours. Feni’s Deputy Commissioner Humayun Kabir Khandkar said two platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh had
been deployed on Dhaka-Chittagong highway to control the situation.
Police and RAB have been patrolling Feni town streets.
