Quality seed increases crop production

Agriculture experts at a training course here yesterday said use of quality seeds increases overall crop production.
They put high importance on attaining self-reliance on seed technology for production and preservation of quality seeds to meet farmer’s demand for seeds.
The experts said these while addressing a training course for farmers on quality oil-seed production and pulse under seeds multifarious project organized by the Department of Agriculture Extension, (DAE) Narsingdi at its office training room.
A total of 60 farmers from six upazilas of the district took part in the day-long training course.
Deputy Director of DAE Latafat Hossain, Aditional Deputy Director (Plant Protection specialist) Dr Shofiuddin, Additional Deputy Director (Crop protection specialist) Shaiful Alam and District seed certification officer Abul Kashem conducted the sessions of the training course as resource persons.
The DD stressed on the seed production and its preservation technologies to keep agriculture production increasing consistently to ensure food security under adverse climate condition.
