UNB, Dhaka :
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Sunday expressed regret for the sufferings of the home-goers during their journey on the roads and highways ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
The minister expressed the sorrow while visiting the city’s Mohakhali bus terminal to oversee the activities of the vigilance teams of the Bangladesh Road and Transport 12
Authority (BRTA) in the morning.
Talking to reporters, he hoped that traffic jam on the roads and highways will start to ease from Sunday. The minister warned the bus service operators against realising extra fare from passengers.
He directed the operators of ‘Nirala Paribahan’, ‘Imami Paribahan’ and ‘Bimimoy Paribahan’ to return the money, collected as extra fare, to the passengers. He asked passengers to submit their complaints to the BRTA vigilance teams if they face any suffering during their journey homes.
Accordingly, BRTA teams will take action against the responsible transport operators, he added.
Criticising BNP, Quader said the party is now suffering from ‘issue crisis’; so it is now doing politics with Eid.
Senior BRTA officials were present on the occasion.
