The negative propaganda about Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annsiul Huq, who is now undergoing treatment at a hospital in central London, on social media and various online news portal is totally baseless, claimed a DNCC press release on Thursday.
The DNCC issued the press statement a day after Rubana Huq, wife of Mayor Annisul, posted a picture of their grandson on the lap of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on her Facebook account to dispel the “rumours” that they are not in good book of the Prime Minister.
The condition of Mayor Annisul Huq has improved further and he was shifted to rehabilitation from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital on October 31, said the release.
The press release, however, dot not disclosed the name of the hospital where the Mayor was admitted.
Annisul, who had been suffering from neurological problems such as dizziness and lack of balance, was diagnosed with cerebral vasculitis at the London hospital. He got admitted to the hospital on August 13.
Annisul flew to London in the last week of July on personal purpose.
“Laith, our grandson, in Apa’s lap. I am generally shy about posting pictures but I have to share this one, while rumours about Annis continue to brew,” Rubana, the managing director of Mohammadi Group, said in her Facebook post on Wednesday.
She said: “It is extremely unfortunate that some quarters gain from spreading ‘fake news’. Just to assure everyone that HPM, Sheikh Hasina couldn’t have been kinder to us.
“Not only did she meet with us in London, I personally met her a few days ago when I was in Dhaka. Our family continues to be extremely grateful and indebted to her for the extra ordinary support she has offered during our times of distress.”
Rubana added: “I hope this picture will kill the rumours and I hope that all of you will continue praying for my husband, Annis.”
