Price of vegetables slightly falls

The city dwellers witnessed vegetables at affordable price after four and a half months with the advent of winter vegetables in the markets.
Farmers said, as the late rainfall had damaged vegetable fields several times this year ,the vegetable market were not steady.
However, prices of some vegetables including bean, cauliflower, cabbage, brinjal, coriander leaf, long bean, and radish dropped slightly. A small-sized cauliflower or cabbage was selling at Tk 25 to Tk 35 per piece while brinjal at Tk 40 to Tk 55 per kg, long bean at Tk 50 to Tk 60, bean at Tk 40 to Tk 60, and radish at Tk 30, green tomato was selling at Tk 30 to 40 per kg, tomato (ripe) at Tk 60 to 70, cucumber local at Tk70 while hybrid at Tk 50 per kg, potato old at Tk 33, potato (new) at Tk 60 to 70, green chilli at Tk 70, bottle gourd at Tk 40 to 50 per piece.
Prices of seasonal leafy of mustard, radish, spinach, and red amaranth remained unchanged and were selling at Tk 10 to 15 per bundle.
As for the fish, sheat (boal) was selling at Tk 500 to 750 kg, cat fish at Tk 700 per kg, cultivated cat fish (Shing) at Tk 450 to 550 per kg, barbel (River at Tk 700 per kg) cultivated barbel at Tk 600, butter fish at Tk 350 to Tk 400, lobster at Tk 450 to Tk 600 kg, shrimp (River) at Tk 400 to Tk 550, Puti at Tk 200 per kg, cultivated koi at Tk 130 to 180 per kg and koi (river) at Tk 600, Fali Chanda (Rupchada) at Tk 950 kg, pabda at Tk600 to 750, walking fish (Shoal) at Tk 600 kg, lata fish at Tk 250 to Tk 300 and Eel at Tk 400 to Tk700 kg, ,Kaitta fish at Tk 450 to Tk 500, Baila at Tk 500 to Tk700 kg, coral fish at Tk 550 kg, river Pangas at Tk 600 kg, cultivated Pangas at Tk 130 kg, Rajputi at Tk 300 kg, Tilapia at Tk 140 to Tk 200 kg, Ruhit at Tk 250 to Tk 380 kg, medium size carp (katol) at Tk 230 to Tk 360 per kg.
The prices of lentil, both local and the Nepalese varieties, dropped by Tk 10 and sold at Tk 125 to Tk 135 per kg at retail markets. Sugar price also declined by Tk two per kg and sold at Tk 66 to Tk 68 per kg last week.
Medium quality rice like Brridhan-28, 29, Paijam, Kajol Lata, Parija and Ratna were selling at Tk 40 to Tk 45 per kg at the weekend on Friday. Fine varieties like Miniket, Najirshail and Kataribhog remained static maintaining higher rates. Miniket of different qualities were sold at Tk 45 to Tk 51 per kg and Najirshail at Tk46 toTk 54 per kg in the city.
Wheat packet of two kgs was selling at Tk 75 to Tk 80, packet brown at Tk 42 to Tk 44, loose wheat at Tk17 to Tk 23 per kg, flour at Tk 32 per kg.
Garlic was selling at Tk 220 to Tk 230 per kg (imported) and Tk 160 to Tk180 (local) per kg, ginger at Tk 100 to Tk120, onion local at Tk 40 per kg while imported onion at Tk 30 per kg.
