Rain washes out Oman-Netherlands WT20 qualifier

UNB, Dhaka :The 7th qualifying match of the Twenty20 World Cup between Oman and the Netherlands was called off without a ball being bowled due to persistent rain at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala, India on Friday. The two sides shared points after the match was abandoned at 4:48pm local time, an hour before the cut-off time. Rain in Dharamsala only allowed toss before the match.The result meant that the Netherlands were knocked out of the race playing two matches as they started the four-team Group-A qualifiers conceding an 8-run defeat against Bangladesh. In the remaining dead rubber, the Netherlands will face Ireland on Sunday (March 13) at the same venue. Ireland was upset by two wickets by Oman in their first match. Meanwhile, the toss of the day’s second match between Bangladesh and Ireland was delayed due to rain.The cut-off to start a five-over game is 10:18pm local time. If it is not possible to start the match by the time, the two teams will share points.If the day’s second match is rained off, Bangladesh and Oman will tussle with each other on Sunday to join the super-10 stage from Group-A.
