The district election office has taken all out preparations to hold the election of six union parishads in Khaliajury upazila of the district, scheduled to be held today (March 22). Under the preparations, a total of 58 presiding officers, 178 assistant presiding officers and 357 polling officers have been appointed by the retuning officer concerned.
Apart from this, all the presiding officers, assistant presiding officers and polling officers have been imparted training at the Khaliajury upazila parishad’s conference room.
District election officer Abdullah-Al-Muhtasim, Khaliajury upazila Nirbahi officer Mohammad Salauddin, upazila agricultural officer Mohammad Safiqul Islam and upazila education officer Rafiqul Islam and others election officers conducted the training programme. Preparations are afoot to take fool-proof security arrangement around the Khaliajury upazila for ensuring security of the voters and holding the polls fairly and peacefully, said Abdullah.
