Population census time extended till June 28 in four districts

The timeframe for the enumeration process of 6th Population and Housing Census has been extended till June 28 in four districts which have been severely affected due to the flood.
These four flood affected districts where enumeration will continue till June 28 are Sylhet, Sunamganj, Netrakona and Moulvibazar, said a press release.
The press release said that some districts of the country experienced devastating flooding during the census week for which it was not possible to collect cent percent census related information in those areas within the stipulated time, reports BSS.
Under the circumstances, the deadline for collecting population census related information in those four flood affected districts has been extended till June 28 in line with the international policy for conducting census announced by the United Nations.
Earlier, the week-long 6th Population and Housing Census were held in the country from June 25-21, 2022 digitally for the first time.
The data from the field-level for the census was collected from June 15 to June 21 which was also considered as ‘census week’.
The midnight of June 14 (zero hour of June 15) was considered as ‘census reference point or time’.
The country’s first Population and Housing Census was held in the country in 1974 followed by the 2nd census in 1981, the 3rd one in 1991, the 4th census in 2001 while the 5th one in 2011.
