Jatiya Party Chairman Hussein Muhammad Ershad on Saturday put ahead a formula for election time government to form by different parties MPs from the present parliament. He also proposed that the polls time government and the Election Commission will hold the next parliamentary election.
The former President proposed this while addressing his party’s grand rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in the city.
He said that the polls time government would carry out the routine work only and help the Commission to conduct the election. He said that they wanted the next general election to be held in a free, fair and credible manner.
Ershad take oath in the rally after keeping his hand on his wife and opposition leader in Parliament Raushan Ershad’s hand.
“We take fresh oath today, we will build a new Bangladesh,” said the JP chairman accompanied by Raushan Ershad.
Ershad hoped that his party would win the next parliament polls and to go to power.
“The Awami League-led government had failed to ensure good governance in the country. We are the alternative political power of the AL and the BNP. We will take part in the next election alone and will form our own government after winning,” Ershad said.
The government gave permission to the Jatiya Party for holding the rally on March 24, in which day the then chief of army staff HM Ershad overthrew the elected President Abdus Sattar in 1982.
The BNP has been seeking permission for many days to hold a rally in the city but the government
denied such permission. In the rally, Ershad criticized the government saying that the education and the banking sectors of the country were nearly destroyed and the unemployment rate was on the rise.
“There are killings and rapes everyday and there is no security and peace in the country,” he said.
Ershad said the rural areas remained largely deprived from development work. The development work was only visible in Dhaka city, he added.

“We have seen there are huge gatherings of people in the rally. It proved that there are huge supporters of Jatyia Party. We will go to power,” Raushan said.
Party Co-Chairman GM Quader urged the government to solve the polls time government system crisis. He said that the country was facing a serious political crisis before the next general election.
Party Secretary General ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader said, “We have seen that the cases of ruling party’s withdrew, but our party chief Ershad regularly attending hearings of his cases in courts.
