Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) has closed a sub-inspector (SI) on allegations of torturing a teenage domestic help.
The police official is SI Jubayed Khan of Kotwali model police station.
SMP Additional Deputy Commissioner (media) Zedan Al Musa confirmed the matter and said, “The police official has been closed and attached to the police lines of SMP,”
Zedan said: “Additional Deputy Commissioner (administration) Ehsan Uddin Chowdhury is investigating the issue.”
Earlier on Sunday, mother of the victim alleged that her daughter was beat up by the police official at her employer’s house after they brought allegation against the victim over theft of a gold chain.
