BNP candidate for Faridpur-2 Shama Obaed accused the police of threatening her party men and supporters to leave the constituency area.
The local BNP leaders and activists also accused the ruling party men of attacking and filing false cases against them to create panic among the BNP supporters and the voters.
“We cannot bring out any procession with ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ due to police and ruling party men’s threat. Our candidate Shama Obaed came to my home two days ago for campaigning, but local Nakulhati AL leader Ikram and Abdul Alim Molla of threatened us and filed a false extortion case against many of us,” Hasan Ashraf, UP member of Atghar Union Parishad of Saltha thana told The New Nation during the spot visit on Monday.
When contacted, Shama Obaed told The New Nation, “The police are obstructing to hang my posters.”
“I cannot also conduct campaign due to police harassment against my supporters. Even, the police are directly threatening my party men to leave the area,” Shama said.
