The traditional Pola Festival of Late Autumn does not create festivity at present. It has been disappearing fast in Narsingdi district due to scarcity of fish prevailing in the district.

Now it has become a dream.
In the Late Autumn when water of the local rivers, khal , beel and haor were dring , the village people with much enthusiasm had been engage in catching fish with the Pola as Pola is the second main ingredients for catching fish.
Hundreds of village people got together and engaged in catching fish in the rivers, haors and beel Now it is disappearing day by day due to reducing of fish production in the district
The villagers said, at least 50 indigenous species of sweet water fishes particularly small ones are disappearing fast in the district due to pollution of water bodies mainly to use of pesticides and chemicals on agricultural land.
They said the rivers and others water bodies of the district has lost their fishing resources due to continuous dumping of wastes and chemical mixed water of the local factories.
