Poet Jasimuddin’s 44th death anniv observed

The 44th death anniversary of poet Jasimuddin, popularly known as Palli Kabi (The Rural Bard) for his poems depicting the people and nature of rural areas of the country, was observed in Faridpur on Saturday in a befitting manner .
In this connection Faridpur district administration arranged different programmes including placing floral wreaths at the graveyard of the poet, discussion, recitation and doa mahfil at poet’s ancestral home in village Gobindapur located in the outskirts of the district town.
Deputy Commissioner Atul Sarker spoke at the discussion meeting as chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Roksana Rahman in the chair.
Jasimuddin died on March 13, 1976 in Dhaka and was buried in his own village-Govindapur.
Among others, Police Super Alimuzzaman, ADC Mohammad Aslam Molla, Additional District Magistrate Dipok Kumar Roy, Additional Police Super Jamal Pasha, Prof. M.A. Samad and Prof. Mohammad Shahjahan took part in the discussion.
