PM’s grant distributed among Bijoynagar poor

Prime Minister’s gift of food items were distributed among 1000 poor people of Bijoynagar Upazila in Brahmanbaria ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
To alleviate the food crisis among the low-income people, the poor, the helpless, and the day laborers during the lockdown due to outbreak of coronavirus the government arranged to distribute food items.
RAM Ubaidul Moktadir Chowdhury MP, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism as chief guest distributed food items on Sunday at the Upazila Parishad premises maintaining the hygiene rules while Upazila Executive Officer KM Yasir Arafat, Deputy Commissioner Hayat Ud Daula Khan, Police Superintendent Anisur Rahman were present on the occasion.
 The food items include 10 kg of rice, 1 kg of oil, 1 kg of pulses, 1 kg of semai, 1 kg of onion and various other ingredients.
Moktadir Chowdhury MP said that the Prime Minister’s gift is the right of the people. He said to the rich of the society to give alms, zakat, fitra among poor and miserable people and advised not to attack and destroy government property by setting fire to it.
During the distribution, Upazila Nirbahi Officer KM Yasser Arafat informed that the government has provided grants for 10 unions of the upazila through VGF as well as GR assistance for a total of 7424 people to provide financial assistance to the temporary victims of the ongoing lockdown due to coronavirus. A sum of Tk. 2502,000 lakh has been allocated to provide financial assistance at the rate of Tk. 450 to 5,560 people.
One of the beneficiaries, Hasina Akhter, said her husband was working as a mason and was having a hard time due to the lockdown. He thanked the Prime Minister for his help in quenching his thirst for Eid-ul-Fitr.
Assistant Commissioner (land) Rabia Afsar Saima, Upazila Agriculture Officer Khizir Hossain Pramanik, Project Implementation Officer Shahinur Jahan, Upazila Engineer Anisur Rahman, Social Service Officer Afroza Begum and all the officials of the Upazila were also present at the distribution function.
Upazila Awami League President Zahirul Islam Bhuiyan, General Secretary of Juba League Russell Khan, leaders of other organizations, Chairman of 10 Unions, President of Press Club Bijoynagar Mrinal Chowdhury, etc were also attended.
