Administrative capacity needs to be enhanced for better civic services

Enhancing administrative capacity of everyone working in Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) is crucial for providing better civic services, maintaining cleanliness and ensuring hygienic foods in the city.
Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa viewed this at the “Administrative Improvement (AI) Review and Planning Workshop- 2021” held at the conference room of RpCC on Monday afternoon as chief guest.
RpCC organised the workshop for its city councilors, officials and employees in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) assisted Project for Capacity Development of City Corporations (C4C). The Local Government Division of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives is implementing the project in four city corporations across Bangladesh.
Chief Executive Officer of RpCC Md Ruhul Amin Miah presided over the workshop moderated by City Governance Specialist of the JICA-C4C Project Brozo Kishore Tripura. The Team leader of the JICA-C4C Project, JICA Adviser Q Heiyama Matomamun and Deputy Team leader of the project participated in the workshop virtually from Japan.
Secretary of RpCC Md Rashedul Haque, its Assistance Waste Management Officer Mizanur Rahman Miju, Sanitary Inspector Abdul Kaiyum and School Inspector Shri Debobrata Kumar Sharman delivered separate presentations in the workshop.
The RpCC officials discussed progress in the monitoring and inspection activities on maintaining cleanliness of roads and drainage systems in three model wards of Ward No-24, Ward No-21 and Ward No-18 in the city and suggested further steps.
Besides, they discussed the monitoring and supervision activities for ensuring safe foods in the hotel and restaurants of Ward No-15 and Ward No-19 in the city following the guidelines of Bangladesh Food Safety Authority.
Mayor Mostafa highly lauded the support provided by the JICA assisted C4C Project to enhance administrative capacity building of officials and employees of RpCC for ensuring good governance and development of Rangpur city.
“All officials and city councilors of RpCC and concerned people should work with utmost sincerity and dedication for proper implementation of the project to enhance and ensure quality services to the citizens of the city,” he said.
