PM urges expatriates to invest in Bangladesh

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged the expatriate Bangladeshis, especially Sylhet diaspora, to invest in Bangladesh in a bigger volume.
“Our government has created an investment-friendly atmosphere in the country by providing various incentives to local and foreign entrepreneurs. You can exploit that scope by investing in a bigger volume,” she said.
The Prime Minister made the request when a five-member all party parliamentary delegation called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her hotel on Tuesday afternoon.
After the meeting, PM’s Press Secretary A K M Shameem Chowdhury and Foreign Secretary jointly briefed reporters.
Referring to the victory in maritime boundary demarcation cases, the Prime Minister said it has created opportunities to invest in energy sector in Bangladesh. “The British companies could invest in the sector,” she added.
Mentioning the violent acts of BNP Jamaat till January this year for obstructing the trial of the war criminals, Sheikh Hasina said her government brought the situation under control.
The delegation members lauded Sheikh Hasina for her tremendous role in women empowerment, girl education and women development in Bangladesh.
Delegation member Baroness Paula Monzila Uddin put emphasis on more publicity on the atrocities of Pakistani occupation forces in 1971.
