Talks with Swedish leaders: PM spends busy day in Stockholm

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, now in Stockholm on a three-day bilateral visit to Sweden, on Thursday attended a number of programmes, including holding official talks with her Swedish counterpart. “Our Prime Minister is passing a busy day here as she attended a number of programmes on Thursday and held official talks with her Swedish counterpart,” said PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim. Sheikh Hasina first visited Swedish Parliament in the morning and held a meeting with acting Speaker Tobias Billstrom, and then had an audience with Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf at the Royal Palace. Hasina, leading a high-powered team including a 47-member business delegation, then held official talks with her Swedish counterpart Stefan Lofven at the Prime Minister’s Office and joined a lunch hosted by the Swedish Prime Minister. Before the talks, the two leaders had a Tete-a-tete. Sheikh Hasina then held meetings with Deputy Prime Minister of Sweden Isabella Lovin at the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office while Swedish Minister for Justice and Migration Morgan Johansson made acall on the Prime Minister at the Grand Hotel. Later, she will join a community reception in the evening at the City Conference Center. On Friday, Hasina is expected to hold meetings with CEO of H&M Karl-Johan Persson and President of Investor Jacob Wallenberg, Vice-President of Investor Marcus Wallenberg and CEO of ABB Sweden Johan Soderstrom. She will also attend and address the Bangladesh-Sweden Business and Investment Forum on Friday. Earlier on Wednesday night, a red carpet was rolled out as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived here. This is the first-ever bilateral visit by any head of government or state of Bangladesh to Sweden. The Prime Minister is scheduled to return home on June 17 via London.
