PM accorded red carpet reception at Nagoya

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was accorded a red carpet reception as she arrived here on Thursday on a four-day official visit to attend the G7 outreach programme where she will take the leadership role in four basic subjects.
Sheikh Hasina will attend the programme of G7 nations, a grouping of seven advanced economies, at the
invitation of Japanese Premier Shinzo Abe. The outreach meeting will be held in the central Japanese city of Ise-Shima in Mie Prefecture on Friday. This is part of the two-day G7 Summit that began in Ise-Shima on Thursday. A VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the Prime Minister and her entourage landed at Chubu Centrair International Airport, Nagoya at 7:05 pm (Japan time). A smartly turned-out contingent of Japanese armed forces presented a static guard to the Prime Minister while she was also greeted with a bouquet of flowers. Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Rabab Fatima and Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Miki Yamada received the Prime Minister at the airport. From the airport, the Prime Minister was taken to Hotel Hilton Nagoya in a ceremonial motorcade where she will be staying during her visit to Nagoya. Earlier, the VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the Prime Minister and her entourage departed the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10:15 am (Local time). Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam, Chief Whip ASM Firoz, PM Media Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam, Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports Arif Khan Joy, Dean of the diplomatic corps, Cabinet Secretary and the chiefs of the three services saw the Prime Minister off at the airport. Daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and PM’s younger sister Sheikh Rehana and Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali are accompanying the Prime Minister during her tour. Besides, a 30-member business delegation, including FBCCI President Abdul Matlub Ahmed, is also accompanying Sheikh Hasina.
The four areas where the Prime Minister will take leadership role are health, women empowerment, sustainable development goals and cooperation for advanced infrastructure building. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, currently the chair of the G-7, formally invited his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina on April 8 to attend the outreach meeting of G-7.
