Most of the important Sylhet- Sultanpur- Balagonj road of the Sylhet district have been inundated by the rain waters causing immense sufferings to the Upazilla dwellers. The rain in the last three months has made most roads unusable.
Patients and elderly people suffer most for bumpy ride as there are numerous potholes, ditches on roads. Currently, condition of Murar bazar to Balagonj is deplorable condition. Rickshaw-pullers and taxi-drivers overcharge the passengers for rides through road that remains waterlogged. A large number of heavy vehicles use these roads till midnight. Several potholes and craters have developed on roads due to regular movement of heavy vehicles like trucks loaded with bricks, sands and concrete, buses, lorries, vans, pick-up vans etc.
Sub-divisional engineer of Roads and Highways Department said damaged Sylhet- Sultanpur- Balagonj roads of Sylhet district would be repaired very soon.
