Penalty to be imposed if Aedes mosquito breeding evidence found

Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Minister Md Tajul Islam on Sunday said, punitive measures will be taken against those to be found responsible for Aedes mosquito breeding in and around their homes, despite repeated warnings.
It is difficult for the City Corporation to kill mosquitoes, door to door. So, the city dwellers are being made aware through campaigns. Entire communities cannot be harmed due to the negligence of a few. This is a punishable offence. If the mosquito breeding grounds are not destroyed, legal action will be taken against the negligent people by the city corporations by conducting mobile courts,” he said. The Minister was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of Aedes Mosquito, Dengue and Chikungunya awareness campaign organised by Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) in Mirpur this morning.
Tajul Islam said, the two City Corporations have already got 10 magistrates for the mobile courts. The negligent people will be prosecuted as per law.
It is to be said that people participation and awareness are important to wipe out Aedes mosquito breeding field and said, if the citizens take it seriously and act responsibly, then mosquito control will be at sight.
The minister chanted a slogan, “Make three days one, Throw away water of accumulation and” urged the city dwellers to become aware of evils of Dengue and Chikungunya.
Minster said, sunshine follows rain and vice-versa. So, be aware of accumulated water.
After that Tajul Islam took part in a rally in Mirpur Pallabi area with the residences.
In the awareness prograamme LGRD ministry’s Senior Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed, DSCC’s CEO Salim Reza, actor Chanchal Chowdhury and the local residents were present.
