Pediatric eye surgery restores vision of 13 Rohingyas, one local child

Orbis International’s humanitarian response program has restored the vision of 13 children of Rohingya refugees and local community from Cox’s Bazar on October 28, 2019 after unlatching the bandage from their eyes.
13 minor children including 9 Rohingyas and 4 locals from Cox’s Bazar area underwent successful cataract operation in eye at Chattogram Eye Hospital on Sunday.
There was a 2-yrs old girl named Shahida Begum also operated in eye . After opening t heir eye bandage today, these children regained their eye sight as normal . Necessary medicines also provided to them by the hospital authority. Due non availability of ophthalmology operations in and around Rohingya camps, the eye operation camp was instroduced at Chattogram Eye Hospital. Dr. Mezbaul Islam, Dr. Nasimul Hasni conducted the cataract operation duly assisted by Project coordinator of KCV Nilufar Yasmeen, MIS Consultant Makbul Hossain, Manager of Coxsbazar Baitus Sharaf Hospital Shahid uddin Mahmud .
 With the cooperation of Qatar Fund for Development, under project of Eye Care In South East Bangladesh duly implemented by Orbis International and the supervision of Coxsbazar Baitus Sharaf Hospital , the operations were underwent at Chattogram Eye Hospital.
 The project has so far examined around 88,000 children both from Rohingya Refugee and local community and provided around 1000 spectacles to the children.
