Sports Reporter :The Tigers posted a massive 79-run victory over Pakistan in the first One Day International (ODI) match at the flood-lit, jam-packed Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Friday.Needing 330 runs to win, Pakistan were dismissed for 250 off 45.2 overs.A superb partnership between Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim guided Bangladesh to make their highest ever ODI total. Bangladesh piled up a record 329 for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.Bangladesh had a modest start as they lost their early two wickets for 67 runs.Later, dashing opener Tamim Iqbal and dependable Mushfiqur Rahim contributed together 178 runs for the third wicket partnership before Tamim was caught by Mohammad Rizwan off Wahab Riaz when the electronic board was giving a reading of 245 for the loss of three wickets.Tamim Iqbal notched up a brilliant 132 from 135 balls featuring 15 boundaries and three over boundaries while Mushfiqur Rahim hammered a windy 106 off 77 balls including 13 fours and two sixes.Tamim Iqbal reached his fifth ODI hundred using 112 deliveries.Mushfiqur Rahim touched his third ODI century playing only 69 balls.After dismissal of Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan added together valuable 50 runs in the fourth wicket stand before Mushfiqur Rahim was caught behind by wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed off Wahab Riaz when Bangladesh’s total was 295 for the loss of four wickets.Shakib Al Hasan and Sabbir Rahman put on together 30 runs in the five-wicket stand before Sabbir Rahman was cleanly bowled out by Wahab Riaz when Bangladesh’s score was 325 for the loss of five wickets.After departure of Sabbir Rahman, Shakib Al Hasan was trapped leg before wicket when Bangladesh’s innings came to an end.Shakib Al Hasan scored 31 from 27 balls with four fours.Pacer Wahab Riaz was his team’s most successful bowler with four wickets for 59 runs.Later, Pakistan made a meek start as they lost their early two wickets for 59 runs.Then opener Azhar Ali and Haris Sohail salvaged their team from early debacle adding together 76 runs for the third wicket partnership before Azhar Ali was caught behind by wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim off pacer Taskin Ahmed when Pakistan’s total was 148 for the loss of three wickets.Azhar Ali hit a gritty 72 from 73 balls including seven fours.Taskin Ahmed struck again when in-form Haris Sohail was caught at the mid-on by Mahmudullah Riyad off Taskin when Pakistan’s score was 175 for the loss of four wickets.Then Mohammad Rizwan and Fawad Alam put on together 42 runs for the fifth wicket stand before Fawad Alam was caught at the mid-off by Soumya Sarkar off Arafat Sunny when Pakistan’s score was 217 for the loss of five wickets.Arafat Sunny cleanly bowled out Saad Nasim for a duck when the tourists total was 217 for the loss of six wickets.Taskin Ahmed got success again when the promising pacer dismissed Wahab Riaz for eight.Mohammad Rizwan, the other successful batsman of the visitors was caught by Nasir Hossain off Rubel Hossain. He scored 57 from 58 balls with eight fours. At that time Pakistan’s score 249 for the loss of eight wickets.Junaid Khan was a run out victim when Pakistan’s score was 249 for the loss of nine wickets.Pakistan’s innings was wrapped up when Saeed Ajmal was trapped leg before wicket by Shakib Al Hasan.Taskin Ahmed and Arafat Sunny grabbed three wickets each for 42 and 47 runs respectively.
