A discussion marking the 138th birth anniversary of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani, a leader of toiling people organised by Nationalist Democratic Front was held at its Sharif Complex in the city’s Purana Palton on Wednesday. In the programme the participants offered prayers for the salvation of the departed soul of Bhasani at a Doa Mahfil held on the occasion. The function was attended, among others, by Chairman of the organisation Sheikh Salahuddin Salu, Presidium Member of National People’s Party Sheikh Abul Kalam, its Secretary General Abdul Hai Mondol and Secretary General of National Democratic Party Kazi Amanullah Mahfuz.

Left Democratic Alliance announced its election manifesto by introducing ‘no’ vote provision in the electoral process in the country. Coordinator of the alliance and General Secretary of Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) Shah Alam announced the 32-point election manifesto at Mukti Bhaban in the city’s Purana Palton on Wednesday.The 32-point including introducing ‘no’ vote provision in electoral process, democratic decentralization and empowerment of local government, massive review of electoral process, suspension of foreign aid or credit which is harmful to the growth of local industries, launching round the year ’employment generation ensure scheme’ across the country and zero tolerance against bribe, corruption and plundering. The event was attended, among others, by CPB President Muzahidul Islam Selim, Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal leader Bazlur Rashid Firoz and Bangladesher Biplobi Workers Party General Secretary Saiful Haq.
