A roundtable meeting organized by Dhaka Utility Reporters Association was held in the auditorium of Jatiya Press Club. In the programme held on the second instant speakers put emphasis on reviving the canal in their former shapes by creating networks between canals and drains for reducing water logging in the city. They said water logging could not be reduced by irrigation of water by pump. If necessary, networks should be created between canals and drains by acquiring land and canals to revive their former shapes, they added. They said important canals within the city area will have to be re-excavated to increase their depth. The speakers said the government has taken many projects at different period to mitigate the water logging problems.
