Suchona Foundation
An agreement signing ceremony between Suchona Foundation, a non-profit organisation specializing in neurodevelopment disorders (NDDs) and Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre (BPATC) was held to help civil service trainees understand NDDs including autism spectrum. Suchona Foundation’s Vice-Chairperson Prof Dr Pran Gopal Dutta and BPATC Rector ALM Abdur Rahman signed the agreement on Sunday at its office at the Bangabandhu Memorial Trust in the city’s Dhanmondi. Saima Wazed Hossain, also Chairperson of Suchona Foundation witnessed the signing ceremony while former Health Minister AFM Ruhal Haque and Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hasan Papon, members of the Foundation, were present, among others.The aim of the MoU is to enable civil servants become well informed and more knowledgeable about neurodevelopment disorders (NDDs).This is so that they can address the various neurodevelopment disorder related issues when they hold different government positions in any sector and at any level. Suchona is working to create a new beginning for persons with neurodevelopmental disorders and mental health issues by developing innovative, low-cost, sustainable programs that can be implemented within a country’s existing infrastructure through public and private partnerships.

Diseases Bangladesh
An international conference on liver diseases organised by the Association for the Study of Liver Diseases Bangladesh (ASLDB) was held on the 4th instant in the auditorium of ‘A Block’ at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in the city.
BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Kamrul Hasan Khan addressed the inaugural session of the seminar as the chief guest. Presided over by ASLDB President Professor Dr Selimur Rahman, Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Secretary General Professor Dr Ehteshamul Huq Choudhury Dulal addressed the function as special guest. ASLDB General Secretary and BSMMU Associate Professor Dr Mamun Al Mahtab Shwapnil delivered the welcome speech.The speakers discussed in details on taking necessary steps to improve the treatment of liver diseases. Seven liver specialists from India, Sri Lanka and Singapore and more than 500 Bangladeshi liver specialists joined the conference.
