Nagorik Kalyan Forum
A view exchange meeting organised by Bangladesh Nagorik Kalyan Forum was held in Jadu Miah Auditorium in the city’s Nayapalton on Friday. In the programme the speakers demanded for the extension of rail line on Padma Bridge upto Pirojpur via Tungipara. They urged the government to meet the demands of the people of Nazirpur-Pirojpur. The speakers said lakhs of people of the area to be benefitted if the rail line is extended upto Pirojpur. A revolution will be happened in the communication sector if the demand is met, the speakers added. The function was addressed, among others, by Editor of the daily Noakhali Protidin Mohammad Rafiqul Anwar, Rafiqul Islam, Advocate Al Amin Rizvi, Mohammad Zakir Hossain Bahadur and Shamim Ahmed Pintu. The speakers also called upon the people of Nazipur-Pirojpur to be vocal to meet their demands. President of the organisation Shahidunnabi Dablu presided over the programme.
Bangladesh National Alliance
Chairman of Bangladesh National Alliance (BNA) Barrister Nazmul Huda said all political parties which joined the dialogue with President Abdul Hamid on the formation of the next Election Commission should accept the search committee constituted by the President. In a statement on Friday, he said the six-member search committee headed by Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain has been formed to recommend names of acceptable commissioners for the next Election Commission. “I hope an acceptable election commission will be reconstituted in line with recommendations of the search committee,” Nazmul Huda added.
