Gano Azadi League
A Doa Mahfil organised by Gano Azadi League was held at Purana Paltan in the city on Thursday marking the National Mourning Day. Awami League Presidium Member and Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim was present at the programme as the chief guest. While speaking Nasim alleged that BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has been patronising terrorism and militancy failing in her so-called movement of torching properties and people. “The country’s development and forward march could not be foiled through conspiracy and terrorist activities,” he said. The function was also addressed, among others, by President of a faction of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) Sharif Nurul Ambia, Gano Azadi League Joint General Secretary Mohammad Ata Ullah Khan and Joint Secretary General of Tariqat Federation Mohammad Rabbani. General Secretary of the organisation Advocate SA Shikdar presided over the function.
Bangladesh Unnayan Parishad
A roundtable discussion on ‘Strengthening SDG Implementation in Bangladesh’ organised by Bangladesh Unnayan Parishad (BUP) was held at the Jatiya Press Club on Wednesday. In the function the speakers said a unilateral quality education system should be introduced to ensure sustainable development by removing disparities and empowering the people meaningfully. They said people need to be empowered to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and quality education can ensure such empowerment, remove disparities and poverty from the society. The programme was addressed, among others, by Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Chairman Dr Qazi Khaliquzzaman Ahmad, former Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank Khondker Ibrahim Khaled, PKSF Managing Director Md Abdul Karim and BUP Executive Director Dr Nilufar Banu. Vice-Chairman of the parishad Dr Rezaul Karim presided over the function.
