Sammilito Sangskritik Jote
The meeting of executive council organised by Sammilito Sangskritik Jote was held at its office on Thursday with the its president Golam Quddus in the chair. In the meeting a 23-member Amar Ekushey Udjapon Upa Parishad was formed with Mizanur Rahman and Maskur-a-Sattar Kollol as its convenor and member-secretary respectively. The participating organisations are requested to apply with Taka 100 as enlistment fees. General Secretary of the jote Hasan Arif and leaders Jhuna Chowdhury, Selim Shamsul Huda Chowdhury, Rafiqul Islam and Ahmed Gias were present, among others, on the occasion.
Muktijoddha Foundation
A discussion organised by Muktijoddha Foundation marking 45th anniversary of the Victory Day and Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was held recently in the Conference Lounge of the Jatiya Press Club. Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan was present as the chief guest. While speaking he said 195 officers of Pakistani occupation forces must have to face trial for committing war crimes during the Liberation War.The minister called upon all the democratic and pro-liberation forces to forge a greater unity and remain alert until cleansing of the anti liberation elements such as Al Badr and Razakars. President of the foundation Principal Gazi Md Delwar Hossain presided over the programme.

President and General Secretaty of the Communist Party of Bangladesh Comrade Mujahidul Islam Selim and Comrade Syed Abu Jafar Ahmed respectively in a statement on Tuesday bitterly criticized the eviction of slum dwellers of the city’s Kalyanpur Pora Slum. The government will have to bear the consequence of this eviction drive, the leaders warned.

The special and first annual convocation of Kazi Nazrul University, Asansol, West Bengal, India was held at the university premises yesterday. Professor Abdul Mannan, Chairman, UGC delivered the convocation speech as the Chief Guest on the occasion. Prof Dr. Sadhan Chakrabarti, Vice-Chancellor, Kazi Nazrul University presided over the function. Members of Nazrul family including Kallyani Kazi, wife of Kazi Anuruddha, who is the second son of Kazi Nazrul Islam were present on the occasion.
