Oxfam Bangladesh
A day-long national workshop on ‘Media Response in Humanitarian and Disaster Contexts’ organised jointly by Oxfam Bangladesh and the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies (IDMVS) of Dhaka University (DU) was held recently at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated it as chief guest. While speaking Arefin urged the media persons to play objective role for creating awareness on social problems among the people. Director of IDMVS Prof Dr Mahbuba Nasreen presided over the inaugural function while Pro-Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University Prof Dr Khondoker Mokaddem Hossain and Country Director of Oxfam Bangladesh Snehal Soneji spoke on the occasion. A total of 40 journalists from different media participated in the workshop.
