Bandhu Kalyan Samity
A Dhaka-based youth organisation Bandhu Kalyan Samity has introduced a unique means of celebrating the English New Year by distributing blankets and winter clothes among the poor with particular preference to elderly people and street children since the 31st night. In the past three nights, the samity distributed over 800 blankets and winter clothes among the poor people in Mirpur and some other areas in the city, Dr Tushar, a young doctor at the cardiology department of Bangladesh Medical College Hospital told. Bandhu Kalyan Samity that groups young professionals like doctors, engineers and entrepreneurs was founded in 2011 and for the past three years the forum engaged itself in different philanthropic activities with a view to addressing the miseries of the underprivileged people.
