Bangladesh open chess team shared the 2nd position along with other 19 teams and earned 5 match points and 8 game points after 3rd round games of 41st World Chess Olympiad now being held in Tromso, Norway.
Bangladesh open chess team split points with Belgium by 2-2 points. In the 3rd round games were held on Monday last, 55 seeded Bangladesh open team split points with 40 seeded Belgium’s team. GM Abdullah Al Rakib (Rating-2522) beat GM Michiels Bart (Rating-2535) of Belgium and GM Niaz Murshed (Rating-2453) beat IM Docx Stefan (Rating-2491) of Belgium.
Besides, GM Ziaur Rahman (Rating-2523) lost to GM Winants Luc (Rating-2545) of Belgium and IM Minhazuddin Ahmed Sagar (Rating-2418) lost to IM Ringoir Tanguy (Rating-2508) of Belgium.
In the women’s section, Bangladesh women’s team beat Sri Lankan team by 3-1 points in their 3rd round games. WIM Shamima Akter Liza (Rating-2147) beat WFM Chanrasiri S A K (Rating-1777), WFM Nazrana Khan (Rating-2001) beat Yashora Tiumi (Rating-1715) and WFM Sharmin Sultana Shirin (Rating-1984) beat WFM Thilakawardana Supeshala (Rating-1729) of Sri Lanka.
Besides, WFM Zakia Sultana (Rating-1964) lost to WCM Methmali Y (Rating-1727) of Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh women’s team secured 4 match points and 7 game points.
