Manir Hossain, N’ganj :
A court in Narayanganj on Wednesday turned down bail petition filed by the prime accused, Noor Hossain, in the sensational seven-murder case.
Narayanganj District and Sessions Judge Sayed Enayet Hossain passed the order after hearing the bail petition.
The court also fixed February 8 after the defence said on Wednesday that they had not received a copy of the chargesheet.
Bails of 11 suspects, including prime suspect Nur Hossain, were rejected during Wednesday’s hearing, said Advocate Mohammad Manir Hossain. Seven men, including Narayanganj City Councillor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar, were abducted on April 27 in 2014. Their bodies were found floating in the Shitalakkhya River several days later. Besides, the following day, the body of Jahangir, car driver of Nazrul Islam, was recovered from the river. Families of the slain councillor and lawyer filed two separate cases in connection with the killings.
On April 8 last year, police pressed charges against 35 people, including Councillor Nur Hossain and three ex-officials of the Narayanganj RAB unit.
